Suzuki Lites riders shine in Atlanta.
March 2, 2010

Atlanta, GA - The Rockstar Energy Suzuki riders took to the field again on Saturday, this time at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta for round eight of the AMA/FIM Supercross series. The track was fast, and the conditions perfect, which made for some of the most exciting racing so far this season.

In the Lites class, riders Blake Bagget and Jake Moss both put in solid rides. The two riders took fourth and fifth in their heat race, with Blake coming in just ahead of Moss. In the main, Blake was running in third on his first lap but dropped back one position to fourth. He managed to hold that position until a crash on lap three dropped him back to tenth place. Down but not out, Blake piloted his fuel-injected RM-Z250 back to an impressive 5th place finish, showing the Supercross world that he is capable of running with the best despite this being his rookie season in professional Supercross racing. “We’re very happy with how Blake has been doing,” said team manager Bill Keefe. “That crash at the finish line was unfortunate, but he managed to quickly regain his composure after his crash and get his lap times back down.” Moss also took his place among the top ten finishers, with a very respectable eighth place finish. Both riders will continue to hit the practice track this week, with the hope that they can continue to improve their lap times and finishes for the next event in Daytona.

While the Lites riders stole the show, Supercross class rider Tommy Hahn ran into another bit of bad luck. After finally recovering from his bout with the flu that left him exhausted last weekend, Tommy missed qualifying for the main by just a few positions, and was sent to the last chance qualifier. For the first few laps of the LCQ everything looked to be going well until another rider collided with him at the end of the whoop section. The collision caused his rear wheel to lock up and his engine to stall, leaving him stranded while the rest of the field passed by. Tommy managed to restart his engine and mounted a hard charge, but with so few laps and only the top two riders transferring to the main event, there wasn’t much he could do. Tommy will also be hitting the practice track hard this week to move back up in the points.
